BJP Leaders Meet Indian High Commissioner in Colombo

Colombo, 18th Sep 2014:  Visiting two member BJP leaders delegation to Sri Lanka today met with Indian High Commissioner Mr. Y. K. Sinha.

BJP National General Secretary P. Muralidhar Rao and Global Convenor BJP Overseas Affairs Vijay Jolly today visited the Indian High Commission in Colombo, Sri Lanka. 

During the two hours long meeting between BJP leaders and Indian envoy a wide range of topics were discussed in relation to Indo Sri Lanka Relations.

Issues pertaining to Indian Fishermen of Tamil Naidu origin, rights of Tamils in Sri Lanka, proposed 13th Amendment in Sri Lanka and the forthcoming Asian Political Parties meet in Colombo were discussed at length.

The BJP leaders Rao & Jolly are also slated to meet the Foreign Minister and Leader of Opposition in Sri Lanka latter this evening.

The BJP two member delegation is participating in the Asian Political Parties conference at Sri Lanka. It is attended by 41 nations and more than 360 political parties of Asia stated BJP leader Vijay Jolly at Colombo.

BJP LEADERS TO ATTEND ASIANPOLITICAL

PARTY MEET IN COLOMBO (ICAPP)

New Delhi, 17th Sep 2014 :  A two member Senior BJP delegation left for Colombo, Sri Lanka to participate in the 8th General Assembly meeting of ICAPP (International Conference of Asian Political Parties) starting there from 18th to 21st Sep 2014.

All India BJP General Secretary Shri. Polsani Muralidhar Rao along with Global Convener BJP Overseas Affairs Shri. Vijay Jolly shall represent the ruling party of India, BJP at the ICAPP conclave. Delegates from more than 40 nations and representatives of 360 political parties of Asian continent shall participate in Colombo event. 

Hon'ble President of Sri Lanka H.E. Mahinda Rajapaksa shall deliver the Key Note address at the opening session.

The Welcome Reception is hosted by Shri. Maithripala Sirisena  Minister of Health, General Secretary of ruling Sri Lanka Freedom Party and Chairman of the Organizing Committee of the 8th General Assembly of the ICAPP. While the Leader of Opposition in Sri Lanka Shri. Ranil Wickremasinghe Chairman United National Party shall organize the farewell dinner at the ICAPP program in Colombo.

The theme of this conference is : “Building an Asian Community”. Chairman of ICAPP is Ex Speaker of Philippines Mr. Jose de Venecia and the Secretary General is Mr. Chung Eui Yong Chairman of Foreign Relations Committee of Democratic Party of Republic of Korea.  The 22 member standing committee has representation from Australia, Azerbaijan, Bahrain, Cambodia, China, India, Iran, Indonesia, Japan , Kazakhstan, Korea, Malaysia, Nepal, Pakistan, Russia, Turkey and Vietnam. Two separate sessions on “Young Politicians Role in Asian Building” and “Women's Role in Asian Building” are also part of the ICAPP agenda. The program is being organized at the Cinnamon Grand Colombo Hotel in Sri Lanka.  

ICAPP was launched in Manila Philippines in Sep 2000 with the objective to promote exchanges & co-operation among political parties among Asian countries. And now is recognized by the United Nations as the Asian voice globally stated BJP leader Vijay Jolly at New Delhi before departure for Sri Lanka.

Someone asked me on Facebook " What I do other than meeting the diplomats" so I thought of sharing my experiences on my 12 days recent Tour for NAMO. I am the OFBJP Convenor and this organisation now has presence in 50 countries across the world. This whole organisation works for BJP, in spreading its name, morals, duties, leadership, views, opinions and primarily spreading love for the country. Also in opening channels for business, growth and development of our NRI'S

In this tour I visited around 10 states in USA and Canada to touch base with around 15,000 NRI’s, PIO’s-American & Canadian Citizen and I will share my experiences with you. I will make one post daily for next 12 days which will give you a feeler of my contributions towards my party.

My first stop was Vancouver, Canada and I was there from 14th to 18th Aug 2014 and this is what I did there:-

OFBJP British Columbia, Canada chapter, led by its President Aditya Tawatia organized a “Grand Public program” on 15th Aug 2014 in Surrey Vancouver British Columbia in which NRIs & PIOs participated in large numbers. The Consul General of India in Vancouver Shri. Ravi Shankar Aisola attended and we all unfurled the Indian– flag. It may be recalled that the Khalistan movement started from Surrey in Canada many years ago. The Indian flag was burnt by the separatists there. Now organizing OFBJP program in their midst was a wonderful feat achieved by BJP well-wishers and supporters in Canada.
I interacted with the Indo-Canadian business leaders, parliamentarians and academicians in Canada on how they can contribute towards the growth of their Home country.

A book on Prime Minister Narendra Modi titled- A Political biography in Punjabi language was released by me along with Mr Aisola & Mr Tawatia. Homage was paid to Indian freedom fighters namely Shaheed Bhagat Singh, Raj Guru, Sukhdev and Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose and others. A cultural program of Bhangra, Bharat Natyam & Ghazals were performed by local artists including young boys & girls to promote Indian culture and heritage.

New Delhi, 2nd Sep 2014 : The American Sikh community in Maryland, USA accorded a grand reception to visiting BJP leaders from India Shri Vijay Jolly Convenor Overseas Friends of BJP (OFBJP) and Col. Rajyavardhan Rathore Indian Member of Parliament at Baltimore Gurdwara . During the 12 days tour , BJP leaders visited 10  major US cities of Los Angles, Dallas Texas, Houston, Atlanta, Chicago, New Jersey, New York, Cherry Hills, Maryland & Washington DC. They addressed large gatherings of Indian American who loudly cheered the new BJP Govt. of India led by Prime Minister Hon'ble Narendra Modi. It was a whirlwind tour for NAMO 28th Sep New York program in USA. The Indian leaders after their hectic US tour returned back home today morning.

OFBJP Convenor Shri Vijay Jolly conveyed the warm good-wishes of All India BJP President Hon'ble Amit Shah and Indian Prime Minister Hon'ble Narendra Modi to the large assembled gathering of Sikhs at the Baltimore Gurdwara.

The American Sikh leaders promised  to attend the New York program at Madison Garden on Sunday 28th Sep 2014 and hear the address by Prime Minister of India Shri Narendra Modi. This program is being organised by Indian American Community Foundation.

BJP leaders Mr Jolly & Col. Rathore were honoured with Saropa's and momentos at the Baltimore Gurdwara. A memorandum addressed to Indian PM  demanded action against the culprits who participated in the 1984 Sikh genocide in India. Concerns were loudly expressed over the fact that despite 30 years having  passed and the culprits still roaming freely has deeply hurt the sentiments of Sikhs throughout the World. There was a loud chorus “Bole So Nihal- Sat Sriya Kaal”. BJP leaders Vijay Jolly & Col Rajyavardhan Rathore addressed the Sikh sangat and assured speedy redressal of their genuine demands including visa & passport renewal of asylees in USA.

This welcome of BJP leaders at a US Sikh Community Gurdwara, is a first of its kind and assumes special significance since in the past several Congress leaders were denied this honor.  This reflects the renewed confidence & faith of Sikh community in the leadership of Indian Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi claimed OFBJP leader Shri Jolly.

The Baltimore Sikh Community program was organised by Sardar Jasdip (Jesse) Singh-Chairman South Asian Democratic Caucus of Maryland, Sardar Baljinder Singh-Chairman Sikh Association of Baltimore, Sardar Hari Singh-President Baltimore Singh Sabha Gurdwara and Sardar Gurcharan Singh-President World United Guru Nanak Foundation. Sardar Satpal Singh Brar President Shiromani Akali Dal, USA also spoke on the occasion. Specially present on the occasion were Shri Atma Singh- OFBJP US Convenor Punjabi Affairs along with OFBJP US Past President Shri Adapa Prasad and US Punjabi Women leader Dr Anju Preet Malhotra etc.

Earlier at another Community Over Reach program leading US Senator Mr Mark R. Brunner, Co Chair of Senate India Caucus and Mrs Aruna Miller, Maryland Delegate & MLA termed  " PM Modi -A- Rock Star " in the august presence of BJP leaders Mr Jolly & Col. Rathore, DCM in Indian Embassy Mr Taranjit Singh Sandhu, prominent US businessmen, media journalists, social and community leaders at a Luncheon organised at Diva restaurant in Maryland by renowned Dr Sudhir Sekhsaria of Punjabi origin.
