PARTY MEET
IN COLOMBO (ICAPP)
New Delhi, 17th Sep 2014 : A two member
Senior BJP delegation left for Colombo, Sri Lanka to participate in the 8th
General Assembly meeting of ICAPP (International Conference of Asian Political
Parties) starting there from 18th to 21st Sep 2014.
All
India BJP General Secretary Shri. Polsani Muralidhar Rao along with Global Convener
BJP Overseas Affairs Shri. Vijay Jolly shall represent the ruling party of
India, BJP at the ICAPP conclave. Delegates from more than 40 nations and
representatives of 360 political parties of Asian continent shall participate
in Colombo event.
Hon'ble
President of Sri Lanka H.E. Mahinda Rajapaksa shall deliver the Key Note
address at the opening session.
The
Welcome Reception is hosted by Shri. Maithripala Sirisena Minister
of Health, General Secretary of ruling Sri Lanka Freedom Party and Chairman of
the Organizing Committee of the 8th General Assembly of the ICAPP. While the
Leader of Opposition in Sri Lanka Shri. Ranil Wickremasinghe Chairman
United National Party shall organize the farewell dinner at the ICAPP program
in Colombo.
The
theme of this conference is : “Building
an Asian Community”. Chairman of ICAPP is Ex Speaker of Philippines Mr.
Jose de Venecia and the Secretary General is Mr. Chung Eui Yong Chairman of
Foreign Relations Committee of Democratic Party of Republic of Korea. The 22 member standing committee has representation
from Australia, Azerbaijan, Bahrain, Cambodia, China, India, Iran, Indonesia,
Japan , Kazakhstan, Korea, Malaysia, Nepal, Pakistan, Russia, Turkey and
Vietnam. Two separate sessions on “Young Politicians Role in Asian Building”
and “Women's Role in Asian Building” are also part of the
ICAPP agenda. The program is being organized at the Cinnamon Grand
Colombo Hotel in Sri Lanka.
ICAPP was launched in Manila Philippines in Sep 2000
with the objective to promote exchanges & co-operation among political
parties among Asian countries. And now is recognized by the United Nations as
the Asian voice globally stated BJP leader Vijay Jolly at New Delhi before
departure for Sri Lanka.
