The American Sikh community in Maryland, USA accorded a grand reception to
visiting BJP leaders from India Shri Vijay Jolly Convenor Overseas Friends of
BJP (OFBJP) and Col. Rajyavardhan Rathore Indian Member of Parliament at
Baltimore Gurdwara . During the 12 days tour , BJP leaders visited 10
major US cities of Los Angles, Dallas Texas, Houston, Atlanta, Chicago,
New Jersey, New York, Cherry Hills, Maryland & Washington DC. They
addressed large gatherings of Indian American who loudly cheered the new BJP
Govt. of India led by Prime Minister Hon'ble Narendra Modi. It was a whirlwind
tour for NAMO 28th Sep New York program in USA. The Indian leaders after
their hectic US tour returned back home today morning.
OFBJP Convenor Shri
Vijay Jolly conveyed the warm good-wishes of All India BJP President Hon'ble
Amit Shah and Indian Prime Minister Hon'ble Narendra Modi to the large
assembled gathering of Sikhs at the Baltimore Gurdwara.
The
American Sikh leaders promised to attend the New York program
at Madison Garden on Sunday 28th Sep 2014 and hear the address by Prime
Minister of India Shri Narendra Modi. This program is being organised by Indian
American Community Foundation.
BJP leaders Mr
Jolly & Col. Rathore were honoured with Saropa's and momentos at the
Baltimore Gurdwara. A memorandum addressed to Indian PM demanded action
against the culprits who participated in the 1984 Sikh genocide in India.
Concerns were loudly expressed over the fact that despite 30 years having
passed and the culprits still roaming freely has deeply hurt the
sentiments of Sikhs throughout the World. There was a loud chorus “Bole So
Nihal- Sat Sriya Kaal”. BJP leaders Vijay Jolly & Col Rajyavardhan
Rathore addressed the Sikh sangat and assured speedy redressal of their genuine
demands including visa & passport renewal of asylees in USA.
This welcome of BJP
leaders at a US Sikh Community Gurdwara, is a first of its kind and
assumes special significance since in the past several Congress leaders were
denied this honor. This reflects the renewed confidence & faith
of Sikh community in the leadership of Indian Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi
claimed OFBJP leader Shri Jolly.
The Baltimore Sikh
Community program was organised by Sardar Jasdip (Jesse) Singh-Chairman
South Asian Democratic Caucus of Maryland, Sardar Baljinder Singh-Chairman Sikh
Association of Baltimore, Sardar Hari Singh-President Baltimore Singh Sabha
Gurdwara and Sardar Gurcharan Singh-President World United Guru Nanak
Foundation. Sardar Satpal Singh Brar President Shiromani Akali Dal, USA also
spoke on the occasion. Specially present on the occasion were Shri Atma Singh-
OFBJP US Convenor Punjabi Affairs along with OFBJP US Past President Shri Adapa
Prasad and US Punjabi Women leader Dr Anju Preet Malhotra etc.
